Attractions in Newquay

Newquay isn't just about beaches and the town centre. There are many beautiful coastal walks stretching from Fistral to Porth and also the gardens at Trenance which are fantastic all year round. You may also fancy a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium which takes you on an undersea journey through the world's oceans or pay a visit to the award winning Newquay Zoo.

Newquay Discovery Trail

This was launched in 2002 and was created to introduce tourists to the history, myths and legends of Newquay.

The 'key' to the two Trails available is found on the Killacourt. You can choose from here to follow the 'history' trail or the longer 'myths and legends' trail.

Newquay Discovery Trail maps are supplied free from Newquay Tourist Information Centre, Marcus Hill.

Coastal Walks

There are many coastal paths around Newquay and I would certainly recommend the Towan Head coastal walk (pictured below) - the scenery is lovely and even though the walk is approximately 1.5 miles from the Harbour it really is worth the effort.

This War Memorial is found on the Headland walk near Fistral and as you can see provides the opportunity for a beautiful photograph (Photograph taken by Glen Colliton and used with his permission).

Trenance Gardens

The gardens are found at the bottom of Edgcumbe Avenue and contains a boating lake, leisure centre as well as the Newquay Zoo.

Blue Reef Aquarium

Located on Towan Promenade, the Blue Reef aquarium provides a wonderful opportunity to see many sea creatures. There is also an underwater walkthrough tunnel through which you can see black and white tip reef sharks, stingrays and moray eels. Visit www.bluereefaquarium.co.uk for further information.

Thank you to Nikki Smith and Helen Blake from the Blue Reef Aquarium for allowing me to use the above photograph.

Newquay Zoo

Found in the Trenance Leisure Park, Newquay Zoo is one of the country's top zoos winning 10 major awards since 1996. The Zoo specialises in breeding many endangered species and is great for the whole family.

Crazy Golf

Not far from Newquay Zoo and Trenance Gardens there is an 18-hole Crazy Golf course which is always good fun. The holes are varied and every game different.
