The Roseland, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan

The Roseland

One of the most picturesque parts of Cornwall. On the south coast, the Roseland is made up of St. Mawes, St. Just-in-Roseland, Portscatho and Gerrans, Veryan and Portloe and Tregoney and is a perfect setting for a holiday with its breathtaking views, tranquil beaches and unspoilt countryside.

The Eden Project

This attraction, which has just opened, will be one of the most visited places in England. Housed in a 50 metre deep crater and the size of over 30 football pitches, the Eden Project will be "a living theatre of plants and people". Several 'biomes' will let you experience what a rainforest is like. There is also a viewing deck and The Gallery where you can view 'The making of Eden' - a multimedia presentation tracking the history of the project. The Eden Project is found to the east of St. Austell.

For further information visit the official site at www.edenproject.com or www.eden-project.co.uk which is a superb unofficial site set up by Keith Martin, a founder friend of the project who lives just 2 miles from the Eden Project.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Another attraction near St. Austell - Pentewan to be precise - The Lost Gardens is a gardeners and historians dream. The gardens have been retrieved from dereliction and are a stunning site to see. It has a series of gardens within a garden - The Lost Valley, The Productive Gardens, The Pleasure Grounds and The Jungle. Each has its own theme to represent different era's, from Georgian and Victorian times to the exotic and romantic gardens from New Zealand and India.
