Truro, Falmouth and Padstow

Truro

The capital of Cornwall, Truro is a cathedral city. It is also a market town with all main shops and stores as well as the small local establishments found in many of the small towns and villages in Cornwall. The cathedral is 19th century and is definitely worth a visit.

Falmouth

Situated on the River Fal, Falmouth is Cornwall's main yachting centre. Falmouth has an extremely long coastline and has plenty of sub-tropical gardens to admire. I would suggest taking a boat trip up the Fal to Truro which is very picturesque.

Padstow

An extremely colourful harbour is just part of a working port. The waterfront has many hotels and guest houses as well as quayside cafes and restaurants where the fresh catch can be eaten. Padstow, on May 1st, celebrates the coming of summer with the 'Obby 'Oss being unleashed in a party that lasts from dawn to dusk.

There are plenty of fishing trips and rides on speedboats available from Padstow, but the Jubilee Queen offers a more leisurely experience. The hour long trip takes you out to sea and past seal cove, Gulland Island and the Trevose Head lighthouse.
